The Group strongly believes in Community participation. Staff awareness is heightened by their knowledge of surrounding happenings and life. Staff members take pride in getting involved in community work.
As the group gets bigger, organized Aid programs are evolving. Several needy children have received an education through our sponsorship program with the Sisters of Cluny for the needy.

MA PAU ASSISTS LITTLE HANNA-$5000.00
Little Hannah Lendors, 9, has been diagnosed with advanced liver cirrhosis due to probable autoimmune hepatitis and advanced hepatopulmonary syndrome. Hanna, who has been living with the disease for three years without knowing, was diagnosed in Caracas, Venezuela, during a hospital visit in May this year.
Hanna is in need of a liver transplant to save her life. Hanna's desperate mother Arlene contacted Ma Pau to ask if we could assist her as the bill for the operation abroad comes up to $1.3 million. Ma Pau was happy to assist to help save Hanna's precious life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to little Hanna as we hope for a speedy recovery.

MOTHER OF SEVEN GETS HELP FROM MA PAU
Sharon Peloy, a single mother of seven, struggles to make ends meet as a domestic worker. But times are especially hard when school opens back and all her children require books and other school supplies. In times like these it is very hard to take care of children and provide a suitable environment for them to learn and flourish.
As Sharon has heard of Ma Pau Members Club's charitable work she did not hesitate to write a letter and asked for assistance. Ma Pau on the other hand did not hesitate either and bought school books worth $1,000 for the Peloy children. Ma Pau helped this mother to give her children the education they deserve. The Members Club has seen their popularity grow as they have continually contributed towards bringing transparency and social equilibrium to society.

WIDOW GETS HELP FROM MA PAU WITH GROCERY BILLS
Veronica Roopan has been a by herself, since her husband died, for the last eleven years. She was left without any support and it has become harder and harder to make ends meet. Basic bills are a challenge and not knowing where the next meal will come from is very frustrating for Mrs. Roopan.
When Ma Pau Members Club heard her story they decided to assist Mrs. Roopan with grocery voucher for three months, worth $900. This is a great relief for Mrs. Roopan and is very thankful to Ma Pau for their generosity. Ma Pau, in their constant effort to help the poor in our society, is very happy to have made a difference once again.

MAPAU SPONSORS ROTARY CLUB OF ST. AUGUSTINE WEST
The Rotary Club of St. Augustine West requested Ma Pau Members Club to be a part in their celebration of their 25th Anniversary as a community-focused Rotary Club. During the past 25 years this Rotary Club has been involved in youth activities such as a Youth Symposium, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Science Fair, Essay & Dictation Competitions for schools and Choirs in Concert.
Ma Pau, who always has an open ear for a good cause, helped the Rotary Club to offset some of their expenses with a donation of $1,000.

MA PAU HELPS YOUTH TO ATTEND UWI COURSES
In a continuous effort to help our youth turn away from negative and criminal activities, the Brotherhood Sport and Cultural Organisation give young people the opportunity to educate themselves. The University of the West Indies has made several courses available, among them is Computer Studies which costs $750 per student.
The Brotherhood Sport and Cultural Organisation approached Ma Pau to assist five young promising members of the community, Celine Richards, Tyrone Richards, Tia Piloi, Kessa Shalto and Tyrell Jones, so they can get ahead and improve their education.

The Trinidad & Tobago Darts Association has sent a National Team to participate in the WDF World Cup XVII (Men) and the Women's World Cup XIV which was held in North Carolina last month. The team needed sponsoring and Ma Pau was able to help out and donated $2,000.

A young group of emerging DJs, with the name of Venom Sound System, contacted Ma Pau Members Club to get some assistance by sponsoring 18 polo shirts for their group members. The leader of the group, Kari Ramdhan, said that they chose to ask Ma Pau as this company signifies quality as well as a well established trademark.

MA PAU HELPS SOUTH AIDS SUPPORT
South AIDS Support has been in the fight against HIV/AIDS since its establishment in 2002. They are on of the leading Non-Governmental Organizations in South Trinidad, working and fighting towards educating and sensitizing the general public. The organization works closely with those infected and affected, to understand and be able to deal with this pandemic in a timely and effective manner.
In order for South AIDS Support to execute their functions efficiently and effectively they requested Ma Pau Members Club assistance for buying a new laptop. Ma Pau did not hesitate and contributed $5,000 to this worthy cause.

MAPAU HELPS TO REFURBISH HOME
The loss of one's home in a fire is a traumatic experience. One not only loses a place of residence but also many other things of value - family photo albums, records and documents, one's wardrobe, books, and furniture may be lost. Nadine Gobinpersad's family had to experience the loss their Penal home due to a fire which left the family in a desperate situation. Certain possessions will be lost forever, but for the replaceable things Ma Pau was happy, after being contacted by Nadine Gobinpersad, to give a helping hand to the traumatised family. Ma Pau Members Club helped the family to purchase a new mattress and a new refrigerator worth $4478.00 things for this family would rest and cool a little bit more.

MA PAU CONTRIBUTES $4,000 TOWARDS RHEA'S BILL
Fifteen year old Rhea Ward, on a recent visit to the doctor, has been diagnosed with a fibrous cyst in her breast. The cyst needs to be removed surgically as soon as possible. Her father, facing the cost of $10,000, turned to Ma Pau hoping to get some assistance in order to meet the family's expenses.
Ma Pau saw the urgency of this surgery and decided to step in and make a donation of $4,000 towards Rhea's cause. Even though no one prepares for these adverse situations, Ma Pau Members Club has proven to be the best friend to persons in need. Reliable and friendly, they are definitely the ones to go to when in need.

MA PAU ASSITS SUPER 10 BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Gold Medal Sports Company (GM Sports) launched the third edition of the Super 10 Junior Basketball League at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Complex last month. This event is a development programme keeping in mind the thrust of the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs and the National Basketball Federation of T&T and has been a success in the past The League features 13 teams (girls and boys aged 15 to 18) and is free for the public to attend.
The tournament director, Mr Keith Clement, asked Ma Pau Member's Club for help with financing the rent for the use of the facility where the tournament took place. Ma Pau, always a friend in need, did not hesitate and donated the required amount. Ma Pau is proud of the youth of their country and will continue to support them.

The Bisram family is an impoverished family that continues to show strength in the face of desolation. Their resilient spirit made the Arima Santa Rosa Lion's Club and Habitat for Humanity take notice. Donna Rawlins struggles on a daily basis to make ends meet. After trying all other avenues for financial support, she decided to ask Ma Pau Members Club for much needed assistance. And Ma Pau, with their well-known reputation for charity and thoughtfulness, couldn't pass on the opportunity to offer their help.
Ms. Rawlins story was indeed a heart-breaking one, and Ma Pau, being sensitive to the plight of the less fortunate, was eager to offer a much needed helping hand to this single mother as she attempts to take care of her children on very frugal means. With the new school term just weeks away, the Our Lady of Laventille R.C. School needed some extra help in order to facilitate a smooth reopening in September. Ma Pau took the opportunity to give generously to the school.

When Albert Labben suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side. Once again Ma Pau was there to offer assist a sympathetic hand
Mr. Labben, who is a resident of Sangre Grande, was left paralyzed and immobile after he suffered a stroke. Paralysis is a life altering experience and Ma Pau understands that it is a difficult adjustment for anyone who has to deal with such an experience. So it’s no surprise that the Members Club was eager and willing to extend assistance to Mr. Labben the Members Club donated a generous $1800 to helping Mr. Labben improve his mobility and quality of life. The wheelchair will allow Mr. Labben to regain some of the independence he enjoyed before his unfortunate incident.

MA PAU HELPS CHERYL REBUILD HER HOME AFTER IT WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE
When Cheryl Paria’s home was destroyed by fire in April, she and her family were left homeless and destitute. With a sympathetic heart and open arms, Ma Pau embraced the family in their time of need and extended financial support to the family as they reconstructed a home in which to live.
Ma Pau understands well that rebuilding a home is no easy task. They also understand that rebuilding after a fire is a traumatic experience having encountered it themselves earlier this year. So the Members Club was more than willing to assist Cheryl and her family as they dealt with their unfortunate situation. MA PAU HELPS CALYPSONIAN CONTENDER PRODUCE NEW CD
Mark John, better known as the calypsonian Contender released his new album at the close of the 2009 Carnival Season, and Ma Pau was there to support him all the way. The album that consisted of seven (7) brand new singles was no easy or cheap task, especially since it was produced by renowned arranger Pelham Goddard. But with Ma Pau’s generous donation, Mr. John was able to successfully release his album.
Ma Pau has always been supportive of musical ventures, so it was really no surprise that the Members Club would have been eager to help cover some of the financial expenses incurred by the production of the legendary calypsonian’s album. Ma Pau played an instrumental role in outfitting the members of the Real Madrid Youth Football Team for their upcoming Arima League and Pinto League football tournaments.
The football team, which is a community initiative aimed at promoting and reinforcing self worth in the community’s youth, has big plans this summer of winning coveted football championships. Because Ma Pau has always been a strong advocate of community initiatives, especially in the sporting arena, it was only natural that they made every effort to help the local football team look and feel their best. With Ma Pau’s kind donation, the football side had an early advantage having been able to acquire quality, aesthetically appealing uniforms.

MA PAU SUPPORTS CARIBBEAN REPRESENTATIVES IN WORLD KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation of Trinidad and Tobago (S.K.I.F.T.T) have a grand summer ahead of them. Preparing to participate in the Karate World Championships in July, S.K.I.FT.T needed financial support in order to send their elite team of six to Greece for the tournament. Ma Pau was ready and willingly to assist these deserving athletes.
Ma Pau recognizes the vital role of sport and sporting events on both a national and international scale, and as such they take every opportunity to show their support to those who represent Trinidad and Tobago. Servol Life Centre caters for youths who have had academic difficulties due to social and financial obstructions. When their buildings at La Romaine were in dire need repainting, Ma Pau was only too willingly to lend a helping hand.
Notorious for their support in the La Romaine community and it’s and environs, Ma Pau unhesitatingly assisted Servol with their repainting project, particularly with the financial costs associated with the up-grade. The Members Club’s contribution of $5000 which helped to absorb some of the painting costs. Servol was most appreciative of the donation which also helped the painting move along in a timely fashion.

Ventures Hockey Club played host to a successful International Invitational Indoor Hockey Tournament in January and Ma Pau was pleased to lend its support to the promotion and progression of sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
Always an avid supporter of sport and sporting events, Ma Pau jumped at the opportunity to help Ventures Hockey Club with their tournament. The competition saw participants from Canada, Guyana, the USA, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago via for the title of Indoor Hockey Champs, and Ma Pau’s contribution of $2000 helped with the smooth running of the event. The President of Ventures Hockey Club, Jenifer Lander, expressed her gratitude to Ma Pau for their support, without which the tournament would not have been the same.

The Providence Girls' Catholic School has always set a high precedent in their academic as well as sporting prowess in Trinidad and Tobago. This holistic approach to education has positively impacted on the social wellbeing and development of these particular individuals in society. However, the price of success has always been a difficult path to walk especially under the contemporary global economic crisis. As such, Ma Pau Members Club has agreed to donate $3000 towards the development of the Providence Girls' Water Polo team.
The members of this team have demonstrated a tradition of success in the local arena with triumphs in 2006 and 2007 in the Secondary Schools National Women's Water Polo Tournament. Their dedication and devotion to the sport has inspired the Members Club to contribute towards the development of their sporting programme. Thanks to the Members Club, the girls at Providence can look forward to another season of healthy competition within the league. |

YOUTHS GO TO FAEC YOUTH ASSEMBLY IN JAMAICA THANKS TO MAPAU
The Antilles Episcopal Conference Caribbean Youth Assembly will be held in Jamaica this year from July 9th to the 11th. This conference, which is of Roman Catholic orientation, will introduce ideologies that will promote a life of Christ in young individuals. Ma Pau Members Club is pleased to contribute $5000 towards making the trip to Jamaica for some of the members of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Sangre Grande.
Ma Pau knows that a strong social base is vital towards the development of the individual. Churches and conventions that encourage learning the right social skills and improving character are fundamental elements that should be offered to the troubled youths of today. Many times children are denied an avenue to release stress and are not strong enough to cope with the ills of society. It is through the presence of these organizations and the work that they do that being a child can once again be enjoyable. Ma Pau applauds their activities and wishes them the best on their trip.

Down syndrome is a deformity caused by genetic deviance in the chromosomes of human beings. As such, this disease causes an impairment of cognitive ability and physical growth. So when little Tristan was diagnosed with the disease, his mother, Ms. Meera Yarna immediately prepared herself for high medical bills. Ma Pau Members Club has taken this opportunity to provide little Tristan with $1000 towards his medical bills.
Tristan?s needs include visiting the doctor regularly for check ups as well as visiting a speech therapist. It is these needs that make Tristan?s condition a little overbearing for his mother within her financial realm. Ms. Yarna has expressed her vision of sending Tristan to school and affording him the chance to gain a proper education. She also mothers a two year old daughter who she expects to follow the same path.

Known as a premier health care facility, Westshore Medical has attracted many private practitioners who have excelled in their respective fields and dedicated themselves to providing quality health care to the citizens. Nevertheless, the cost of maintaining and purchasing medical equipment has been a cause for concern globally and is no different in Trinidad and Tobago.

Living with an illness can hamper the everyday activities of one's social life. So much so that Mr. Hedwig Nicholas was robbed and taken advantage of due to his lack of mobility. After being diagnosed with Cervical Spondylosis, Mr. Nicholas was devastated at the surgical cost of repair to his limbs. After living in discomfort for years, Mr. Nicholas turned to Mapau Members Club who contributed $5000 towards his operation and recuperation.
Being an active part of San Fernando and environs, Ma Pau?s involvement in the issues of the community at large has demonstrated their diversified stance as a well run establishment. It came as no coincidence that Mr. Nicholas chose to contact the Members Club who came to the aid of many in the past. Daryl Williams, the son of Mr. Michael Williams was ascertained as having a serious medical condition that required frequent check ups. Due to the rare occurrence of this medical condition, Daryl had to seek medical care outside of Trinidad and Tobago to treat his condition. The Ma Pau Members Club contentedly contributed $1000 towards Daryl's trip to New York for his next check up.
Time and again, individuals are encountered with ?sticky situations? that have no immediate remedy. MAPAU HELPS LITTLE JOHN-PAUL WITH HIS SURGERY
Living with a disability can be a costly and difficult task. However, the love of family members and the support of loved ones can always help make that arduous task a little easier. A concerned mother, Ms. Charmaine Cabral became distressed when her son, John-Paul Cabral was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis. His lone parent decided to take her distress call to the most credible source, the Ma Pau Members Club who was obliged to help by contributing $5000 towards his next surgery.
Neurofibromatosis is a serious disease which affects the nervous system and causes bone deformities as well as learning disabilities. John-Paul, being eight years old, deserves the chance to flourish and excel towards his goals without the limitations of his disease. It is unfortunate that this young individual has gone through numerous surgeries in an attempt to return to his full potential capability.
The enduring assistance to the needy by the Ma Pau Members Club has proven to be second to none. These selfless acts are a continuing attempt by Ma Pau to alleviate the constant trifles that the less fortunate face in society. Thanks to the Members Club, many can sleep better at night knowing that someone cares.

LONGSDALE GETS A ROOF OVER HIS HEAD THANKS TO MA PAU
Longsdale Lewis has the Ma Pau Members Club to thank for contributing towards building the roofing of his house. Mr. Lewis had encountered financial issues after he realized that he did not possess the necessary monetary funds to put a sturdy roof over his head. Ma Pau responded to his woes by providing him with $2000 necessary for putting a galvanize roof structure over his house.
Mr. Lewis, who is currently employed with the security firm, Personnel Protection Services had demonstrated his will by ambitiously embarking on a project to fix his house. However, to produce such works of art to a credible global standard calls for a substantial financial investment. Mapau Members Club has provided Pink Panther with five thousand dollars towards his 2009 album entitled “Think Pink”.
The Members Club has been a financial avenue for artistes such as Crazy and Explainer, who have had problems in the past with raising the necessary funds for their respective albums. Yet again, another well renowned artiste can rely on the support of the Members Club who has proven themselves as true cultural supporters. Pink Panther has Mapau to thank for his renditions this year. Many delighted fans and calypso critics can have an extra reason to smile thanks to the service that the Members Club has provided to young and established artistes. |

MA PAU ASSISTS SURAJ WITH MRI SCAN
Sheldon Suraj was relieved when Ma Pau Members Club came to his aid. The Members Club, which has been known to help with charity and cases of socio-economic crisis, has once again proven to be the guardian angel of the poor and underprivileged in society. Sustaining serious injuries in a vehicular accident, Sheldon Suraj can now rest a little better with the $3500 that Ma Pau Members Club donated towards his medical bills.
Upon assessment, it was determined that Mr. Suraj was in dire need of a MRI scan since he had been experiencing joint pain and eyesight failure in his entire right side of the body. His doctor suggested to him that the implications of being in such an accident are very serious and the need for immediate action was apparent. Ma Pau?s consistency over the years did not stop here as they were the forerunner of hope to this ailing man.
The Members Club continues to challenge other establishments to reach out to the needy in society in their fight against poverty. |

MOTHER OF FIVE GETS HELP FROM MA PAU
Trevrelin Jacob, a mother of five and a hard worker was in doubt after she was handed an eviction notice by the San Fernando Court. In this difficult time of recession, it has become even harder for single parents to take care of their children and provide a suitable environment for them to learn and flourish in. However, Ma Pau Members Club came to the aid of this struggling mother of five with a $4500 contribution towards her new home.

RONALD HAS SET HIS SIGHTS SET ON MA PAU
In the current economic crisis, many who are indirectly inflicted with health or financial issues have turned their sights to the Ma Pau Members Club. Ronald Dattoo, a recipient of cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant had nowhere to turn to after his bills overcame his actual turnover. Mr. Dattoo was pleased after the Ma Pau Members Club agreed to contribute a healthy five thousand dollars towards his eye surgery.
After visiting the doctor to assess his eye damage, Mr. Dattoo was told that his right cataract had to be extracted. Being a risky surgical procedure that involves precise placement of the artificial lens into the eye; it is often recommended that only the very best medical practitioners can perform this task. In addition, there is an overwhelming risk of losing one?s eyesight if the surgery is not done accurately.
Ma Pau chose to give Mr. Dattoo a fighting chance as part of their ongoing initiative to help the needy in society. The Members Club continues to challenge other organizations to contribute towards the needy and underprivileged in any way possible.

WEEKES GETS STRONG WITH $5000 MA PAU BOOST
Nicole Asome-Weekes was terrified when she was diagnosed with an abdominal condition that led to a hernia. Knowing that the problem could be fixed, Ms. Asome-Weekes had some form of comfort but to only be dashed by the surgical costs. Needing a hernia repair and an apronectomy done, Ms. Asome-Weekes turned to the Ma Pau Members Club who gave her $5000 towards her much needed surgery.
Ma Pau saw the plight of this individual and decided that it was obligatory that they should step in and help. The growing cost of medical procedures is a frightening notion to face. Ma Pau was heartened when they heard that Ms. Asome-Weekes took it upon her own shoulders to do fund raisers in order to raise the money needed for the surgery and decided to make a donation towards her cause.
Even though no one prepares for these adverse situations, Ma Pau Members Club has proven to be the best friend to persons in need. Reliable and friendly, they are definitely the ones to go to when in need. |

XPRESS 21 CAN PLAY THANKS TO MA PAU
Contributing towards the development of culture in Trinidad and Tobago is what the Mapau Members Club is all about. The Members Club, which is also a well known community based organization in Woodbrook as well as in La Romain, San Fernando chose to help out Xpress 21 Steel Orchestra after hearing about their financial issues for 2009 Carnival. The Members Club contributed a vital $2500 towards t-shirts and a banner for the band.
Xpress 21 has been an exemplary organization with a great track record of success. Hailing from one of the more impoverished communities in Trinidad and Tobago, this Laventille based group has had a positive influence on the youth of the area. Their participation in Carnival and Emancipation day parades are always remembered by their sweet renditions of well prepared artwork. Mapau Members Club handed this illustrious organization the chance to go another year strong as they further represent the wonderful culture of the country.
