Commission
Steals Trademark from Small Corporation,
Benefits from Name; and Will Be Sued for $100 Million
New York,
NY - In the constant battle for gambling market share, the New York State
Lottery Commission was today called to the carpet on the theft of a US
- registered trademark owned and used by Casino Fortune - a ten-year-old
West Indian entertainment corporation that specializes in online gaming
and entertainment.
The New York
State Lottery Commission recently began misusing the trademarked title, "Casino Fortune" by assigning a scratch card by the same name.
This is despite the fact that the West Indian company owns the trademark
and operates a six-year old interactive gaming website by the same name.
Casino Fortune
executives discovered the trademark infringement recently and were surprised
that the New York State Lottery Commission failed to perform basic due
diligence in discovering whether the name was already trademarked by the
United States Patent and Trademark Office.
"It's
disappointing that we dutifully went through the process of registering
our name with the United States government only to have the New York state
government turn around and steal it from us," said Casino Fortune
CEO, John Wallis. "We've worked hard to build a solid, credible name
for ourselves and today, it's reduced to a disposable scratch ticket."
Casino Fortune
plans to file suit with the NY State court later this month to begin the
process of restoring their brand name and exclusive right to the Casino
Fortune identity.
